Mercure Gloucester, Bowden Hall Hotel Supports Rays of Sunshine
Mercure Gloucester, Bowden Hall Hotel are delighted to announce their new charity partner this year is Rays of Sunshine, www.raysofsunshine.org.uk, a UK registered children’s charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children aged 3 to 18 by granting their wishes, granting hospital ward wishes and organising large scale events.
Our aim is to raise £2000 in the first year of the partnership to fund magical wishes for brave and deserving children and to do that WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Every day of the year Rays of Sunshine gives brave and deserving young people the chance to put their illness on hold and enjoy a moment of escape. Over 6,000 individual wishes have been granted since the charity was set up in 2003. Wishes can be as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for the day, go to Disneyland in Paris, visit Santa in Lapland, own an iPad, meet a favourite celebrity or even a ‘real life’ mermaid, Rays of Sunshine works hard to make that wish come true.
Rays of Sunshine also grants ward wishes, which offer a distraction to hundreds of children during their time in hospital or a hospice. Events and outings are held throughout the year for large groups of seriously ill children including trips to theme parks, hospital activity/pamper days and parties.

Bowden Hall Hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment, transforming our grade II listed four-star Georgian country house hotel.
The renovation includes a transformation of all public spaces, including the restaurant & bar, lounge and reception areas.
The new look was influenced by the hotel’s exquisite countryside setting and delivers locally inspired touches throughout. The new interior fuses contemporary fabrics and colours with traditional, period features and detail,
epitomising nostalgic elegance with a modern day style.
The new look comes after the stunning Lakeside Suite was renovated last year, offering the perfect space for dreamy weddings or special events and accommodating up to 180 guests.
The lounge at Bowden Hall Hotel, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the front lawn, offers the perfect setting for guests to enjoy a traditional afternoon or a round of cocktails with friends and family before savouring a delicious Sunday lunch in the stylish new restaurant.

The Mercure Gloucester, Bowden Hall Hotel has achieved Highly Commended in the VenueVerdict Accreditation 2017 courtesy of BDRC Continental.
We were recognised by VenueVerdict accreditations, which showcases the UK venues that consistently provide an excellent customer experience. BDRC’s VenueVerdict provides the only venue accreditation programme determined entirely by the voice of the customer and based on meeting experience.
